Our Future plan
VSSU has accomplished a great deal throughout the years, but with such a dynamic leader and dedicated team of staff, there are undoubtedly more innovative exciting new development initiatives to come in the future.
One of the most prominent future dreams held by Mr. Kapilananda Mondal and VSSU is to create a fund that will be controlled by VSSU. This fund could be created in several ways. Another organization or corporation could donate the seed money to start the fund, or VSSU could sell some of the land that it owns in order acquire this initial capital. Once this seed money is acquired, VSSU will invest this capital and use the interest accrued to carry out additional community development projects.
In a more broad sense, a part of VSSU’s future dream is to continue to develop their credit program to benefit the poor in the community. The way credit systems currently operate within many financial institutions is not conducive to helping the community develop. Most credit systems allow rich individuals to borrow funds at very low interest rates with extremely long repayment periods. This reinforces their wealth and strength within society. In most credit systems, the middle-class receives decent interest rates that allow them to benefit from their loans, but not to climb to the economic status of the wealthy. The poor however, are held down by conventional credit systems. The poor will receive extremely high interest rates and receive very short repayment periods; in essence they are being penalized for being poor. Not only is this system of credit allocation unjust, but it is not in the best interest of the community as a whole. In order for the community to flourish, the poor must be given equal opportunity to receive credit, work, and develop themselves. It is VSSU’s dream to be a part of the movement that will change the credit system as a whole so it is more equitable and so that it may better serve society as a whole.
Invitation for Collaboration
Many of VSSU’s projects have been joint collaborations with other agencies, NGOs, and corporations. We sincerely hope that the opportunity for collaboration will continue in the future, as these opportunities have not only enriched our work, but our communities as well.
VSSU has been very fortunate in the acquisition of a great deal of land. We would therefore like to invite any potential collaboration with prospective organizations or individuals, as we have a wealth of land which can be dedicated to such projects. VSSU is interested in splitting the responsibility of any projects between itself, the external company or organization, and the community. This idea of investment from the community is consistent with VSSU’s belief in development through challenges.
If you are interested in collaborating with VSSU on any project, large or small, please contact us.
